2012 - CORNWALL CARPING - Part 2

Polawyn match lake was the first pool we fished on the Sunday and after a cool morning we started to get a few fish on the feeder to the island. We had already set up rigs to work at 5 and 13 metres plus the margins.

First WA fish for me was a small mirror carp about 3lb with an awful mouth which is the unfortunate face of commercial fishing these days  :(

Johan took skimmers ,roach ,crucian ,F1 and his first ever barbel !

WHAT A LAUGH !

I told Mr.Tikkanen never to leave his pole unattended when going for the call of nature ? All was quiet when suddenly Johan shouted : Phil ! , my pole ! .....'what' i replied only seeing him lunging from the bank as his top 6 was being taken away.......on the end was a barbel !

So remember besides : 'You dont move the feeder' then 'you dont leave your pole unattended '

Monday had arrived and it was Bolingey day ......the mighty Bolingey that had on the previous week's festival weighed in 4400lb of fish in one match between 36 anglers who averaged 122lb each ,staggering !

We fished the right hand pool with Johan on peg 44 and me on 43 and with the sun on our faces which was welcome after a cold start morning

Peg  43

Menu for the day was alot of corn ,hemp ,maggots, casters . Was not sure which would start well so i opted for 3 rigs at 13metres , one on the deck  with another 2 at 3 and 5 foot as the sun was starting to display a few large carp on the surface. Elastic choice for the 13m line was MAP green 13 and Preston green 13.

2 tops for the 13m line and 2 short stops for the margins using Preston 17 purple in one and a double 10 latex in the other.

Johan after catching a small carp and a few F1's locks horns with a bruiser !

WHAT A BEAUTY !    JOHAN WITH FISH OF THE DAY ESTIMATED AT 11LB

Also fished along towards Johan in the margin

I was getting concerned with Johan as his love for fishing English Commercial carp was causing him to start kissing his fish ......i think the carp was looking rather surprised also !!   :)

The floats that were performing great as from top to bottom
GINO top
MERUS middle
TRUX bottom

They were rock hard without a split or breakage of any king.

ASK YOUR LOCAL SHOP TO STOCK THEM FROM :
