2012 - CORNWALL CARPING - PART 1

D-Day finally came and it was time to put into practice what had been organised for the previous 9 weeks since the agreed .......YES ! ..........we are going to England !
Mr Tikkanen arrived earlier than expected obviously worried he would miss the plane plus really having a quick viewing of the previous days delivery of new DINO floats for the club.

Gear at the ready !

Our attire was carefully designed and ordered by the Tikannen for this momentous expedition.

Once on the plane we were able to view and discuss which floats we would set up at the Cornwall Carp Bash. I had a earlier batch arrive which would be the same as will will pick up at Attila's abode (Attila is selling Dino floats under his umbrella company : 'Best Floats') http://www.thebestfloats.co.uk/

Criminal selling Dino floats on a Ryanair plane - do not approach this man as he is considered dangerous.

Dino supplied us with another box of mixed floats for us to study and pass comment.

New Dino periodical had been released and we had several copies of the toy comic    :-)

We finally landed at Stanstedt and travelled to Leicestershire and met up with Scott of Esselle pole repairs. We had previously sent away pole sections for repair and this was the time to inspect the great work, we were very satisfied customers.....awesome repairs !

First destination after landing at the airport was to travel direct to Joffs shop at Rothley in Leicestershire for some luncheon meat .........24 tins !.....lucky carp !!

After a good nights sleep at the Fosse Brook Bed and Breakfast http://fossebrook.co.uk/ we started our first fishing as seen on our sponsor shirts , the 'Holly Farm' http://www.hollyfarmfishery.com/

A very dodgy looking character appeared in front of the welcome sign , looks a bit like Bob Nudd ?
Nice Dino Floats fleece jacket though :)

During the course of setting up our gear a great friend ,club mate and team mate from the past , Mr Brian Envis of the Leicester Likely lad fame was also fishing a small match there on another pool.

We were to fish Moby's just a 16 peg pool 'rammed ' with fish but a great starter for his first commercial carp fishing.

Unbelievably with 10 minutes of Brian Envis was another Leicester Likely lad : Dave Rossi another angler i have fished with especially at Drayton reservoir over the last 15 years.
This is a great experience for Johan as he has read the names of Brian and Dave in the recently published book on the legend of 'Ivan Marks' , what a start he has made in the UK !

Setting up time for both of us

I was into F1 carp straight the way at 14 metres

Johan started to get into the pattern of angling and netted several F1's ,Fantail goldfish, tench ,roach and skimmers.

Prime condition F1's

Mirror carp started to queue up for Johan's feed.

The pool was a virtual 'aquarium' with goldfish also.

k

First big carp from Johan ....Welcome to England !

Catch and release ....the way its done !

On the Friday we traveled to Cornwall and we stopped below Bristol at Salisbury to meet up with Attila of  http://www.thebestfloats.co.uk/

He is selling his brand of floats built by DINO floats : http://www.fishingfloat.hu/

Newquay , Cornwall , surfers paradise !

We walked through the town and this caught our eye    :)

It was a cloudy cooler day from the previous hotter weather when we arrived but Newquay and its 17 beaches is a little bit special.

Friday night we reached this small hotel close to the town .....BMW is our hire car rammed with fishing gear.

First day at Whiteacres ....outside the tackle shop .....met Stu Lister

Stu , Top man ,top professional , top tackle distributor and he lives just 20 metres from Bolingey !!!

The night beofre the fish-off at WA and it was ' rigs r uz'

Match lake the Polawyn was our choice with JT on peg 31

I took the peg 30

See you in part 2 when we look at the fish we caught and onto Bolingey the next day
