Mats Larsson and myself met up at the match length to view the potential pegging for the feeder match on 7th/8th May . The morning was very cold with -10 !!!! ......nice start to the summer and i have just put on summer tyres !!
When we arrived at the waters edge it was very clear that the water was down at least 0.5 metre ! so the depth out there could only be about 1-1.25 metre . However whilst in front of the car park area we viewed the early section and it looks like the access is quite good as it would appear the vegetation has been taken down .
The usual match length looks like last year , difficult in some places with remaining reeds now all brown and laid down in heaps as the winter has cracked them . It was interesting that after the stream on end peg there was clearly work on the bank that would allow 2/3 extra pegs .We walked over the marina bridge and was quite surprised to see more potential pegs with the bank very clear and comfortable.
The water has yet to rise back up to normal level however as all anglers know from past matches there you really need waders and platforms to be comfortable .
I shall report back to the METMASK MATCH GROUP with our findings and cover our thoughts on the potential level of pegging of this match based on interest .
The same weekend there is a competition in Orebro so this might take a few anglers away however due to this Feeder match popularity last year there maybe more people wishing to attend ?
Ideally it could be nice to have numbers like :
21 pegs - 3 sections
24 pegs - 3/4 sections
27 pegs - 3 sections
28 pegs - 4 sections
etc ...... so we get even number sections .
We shall look to complete some tidy up work on the match length in readiness for the competition so we shall keep you informed and list the match soon on the Meteplanket ?
Mats and i marked out potential pegs and with a couple extra after the small stream , 22 pegs .
Looking down the match length from 22
Furthest extents could see an extra 7 peg section
Furthest potential section was an easy walk and less hinder from trees
