23rd and 24th April - Arboga , big river fishing .

Arboga is synonymous with good weights at the start of the Swedish match fishing season and in the past some very good weights of 25-45 kilos have been produced . How will it fish this year ? Well the preceding weeks had seen snow which was part of a long winter but only just a week ago temperatures soared to 19 degrees so expectancy for a good match was being thought of however with a warm temperature the snow melt accelerated therefor the Arboga river was infiltrated with extra water , be it very cold.

The Friday 22nd April i travelled to Jamies dwelling and met up with the MM team and good friends. All of us we were blessed with Jamie (Not Oliver) fine cooking skills and a spaghetti of grand proportions was served downed with copious amounts of Red wine with the odd strong beer . Later on Jamie performed a Live draw so everyone did not waste time hanging around for a peg so it cleared the way for Bait to be picked up from the van.

My car at the ready for the 1hr 15mins to Jamie of the Köping Chelsea supporters club

First Day

After a lovely continental breakfast at the Jamie Hotel we then ventured to the venue and Jamie and Esa supervised the pegging of the match . A section the closest to the main carpark , B section further out however the anglers who would change section for the Sunday as we wanted everyone to take a turn on either sections , that was fair .

Drive to B section B6

View downstream with wind picking up and sitting partially in the water surrounded by surface

Three top 5's loading up with :
15 gr CRALUSSO RAY
12 gr SENSAS PIESTANY
10gr SENSAS NAUTILUS
5M Whip with 2gr EXNER FRIDA

Down stream

I had reeds out in the water at 7m

From up on the bank behind my setup , the slope was a cruel 60 degrees in places

Wind was starting to get more fiercer

Well ! a disappointing day on B section with few fish showing . The section won in last 5 minutes with Russ taking a 1 kilo chub to pip me by 30gr , thats fishing !
My day was awful as every rig i put out snagged between 7 and 13m and the wind played the pole all over the place . In the end i stuck to catching miniature Bleak then later took 12 small dumpy roach and rudd.
A section was better but not by much and the fishing apart from first three pegs was peggy afterwards and that shown as very good anglers Christer and Finn-Erik were 50gr and DNW respectively so you knew it was bad when those anglers get that result .

2ND DAY

Mats Larsson on peg A3

My peg A5
Set up was ;
30 gr CRALUSSO
25 gr CARLUSSO
1.5 gr Maurizio Schiepatti Regolo
30 gr Pole feeder

No feeder fishing for me as my rods are too long and i had a tree branch above me .

The watering can was not mine

The Master Blaster Jamie giving it some Rave music in the morning getting everyone fired up

Jamies setup with MK Quattro box on MKQ Platform

View upstream to the bridge

View downstream from main car park

The 5 hours soon passed by as on the latter part of first A section it fished poor and the first three pegs had some great catches

Marcus on A2 won the match convincingly with

Massive well done to Jamie for great organising skills . Also thanks to Esa and Daniel for all their help .
