2014 - GREENHILL AC - ASHPOLE SPINNEY - A MAGGOT DAY WITH THE RESIDENTS

A week off work before starting a new contract so decided to have a mid-weeker on the local club waters . Fabulous fishery near Cosby in the heart of South Leicestershire called Ashpole Spinney , it has Common carp , Mirror Carp , Leather Carp to 25lb  , Tench to 4lb , Chub to 6.5lb , Roach to 1.5lb , Rudd to 1.5lb , Perch to 3.5 lb.
Decided to purchase 3 pints of maggots and fill it in against the expected onslaught of greedy surface fish . Expectancy is high as i know the quantity of fish in this lake is huge but the problem is the Carp soon latch on to the free offerings and my light rigs will be tested.

I chose peg 21 for the days fun.

Crackin weight of fish just fishing at 5 metres on the maggot using SENSAS 5-8 Yellow elastic , using their CXX range floats and their hooks and line , faultless !

Reckon i had 30lb plus , possibly nearer the 40 mark

The Sensas Bait table canopy …..essential today to keep the maggots from being roasted.

 Flat roller is just class , really good construction with good mechanised legs
