2011 - 12th July - Cornwall's Mawgan porth fishery - How did i get on in the match ? - part 2

So the match commenced and things had changed in 2 years , the fishery was saturated in small silver fish like Golden Rudd ,Rudd,Roach, skimmer bream. Every time i fed casters then hundreds of them surged for the bait before it could get down to the carp and that was in only 30-45 cms of water !!! .
Tried double corn and the same would happen ........i could catch 5 silvers for every carp on average. Even tried pellet but the same happened. So in the end it was best not to feed too much and place the float away from that action.......disappointing but this is how the match went .........

Wayne was soon into fish and had taken 18 in the first hour ....here is one he had , note the speed of the fish from the bite and also note his elastic is set at the right tension for that size of 1-2lb fish.

after 5 hours how did everyone get on ?

Graham Rigby on peg 42 with 66-03 who struggled like me with another angler in the area.

Brian Aandrews on peg 46 with 109-10 and 5th overall

Second weigh for Brian

Carl on peg 47 with 130-02

Carl with a third weigh.

Waynes first of 3 weigh-ins for overall winner with 136-00 , quite low weights for the fishery. It normally has weights of between 150 - 350 .......think the carp were breeding thus giving the silvers a chance to feed.

Last weigh in

Andy Meadows with a 4th on peg 36 and 113-01

Terry checks all the results and the winner is ..........WAYNE PANTIN
