2011 - 21st July - Thursday Rover at Whiteacres

Thursday rover match - winner takes a free weeks holiday

the match pools normally on offer but since there is only 70 for the match then it will be used on about 4 or 5 pools.

Okay the draw will commence

King Clint

Set up and ready ......makes a change :-)

Fished these matches many times before with my best result being a 4th overall. Basically you all form a queue and you pull out a number and i you pull out number 1 then you have first choice which peg on which pool you want. So i pulled peg 8 , i knew the form pool was Twin Oakes but the noted pegs went before me so i decided to take the high bank on the Pollawyn Match lake , Peg 18.......never fished it but have seen wining pool weights come of it in similar circumstances as the wind was lightly blowing across that area, it looked perfect. But how did i get on ?

I started of on the method and had a small carp but when the anglers either side of me started on Bream i thought i must have some of that , and i did .

Fished mostly up in the water

Feed, feed all day

Its was tough , the carp were inactive and only the Bream were up for feeding , be it sparce.

Still took some good samples on the meat (Potatoe soaked in coffee was the best bait as it stayed on the hook with all the silvers' attacking it)

Small ....needed better

Its a struggle , the wind has dropped and the carp are scarce

Fishing full depth now at about 2 metres - see what happens

Wweathe rwas beautiful but the wind had disappeared like the carp

Kept the local wild life fed with maggots

Time to fish the margins

No luck !

Mixed up a litre of pellets

and went for a big feed to stir them up

It worked the Bream came better

People too my right started to catch Carp    .....grrrrrrrr!

Whistle gone and its weigh time , i had 5 carp and the rest skimmers for 42-7

Should have been better

Angler to my left beat me by a 1lb with a 1 carp and rest bream catch.
I ended up 7th out of 21 on the lake .......bad day at the office !

heard later that Twin Oakes on 16 had took it again for a second time in the week (Gold on Monday with 148 and i was on peg 5 with a DNWI )
