2025 - May 31st/June 1st - Arboga - Metmask open

The Arboga weekend finally arrived and glorious weather was there to greet us but will the wind behave considering the last several weeks it has been very naughty?

Saturday 31st May

Guys starting to arrive and tie to prepare for the draw.

Pegging out and clearance of some pegs as usual performed by that great stalwart of local club angling Janne Stange

Draw made i was blessed with peg 9 a known good peg as i am told . Known as the Beaver peg but will i see any today ?

All set up ready and soon its time for the pre-bait

To my right is Håkan , Tomas U to my left

Well , that was not fun ! , i struggled like most of the guys to put anything in the net . The river was covered in Bleak (they did not count) . Ruffe were on the feeder line most times taking your worms off the hook. I ended up with 950 grams !!

Thomas won Section B with 4900

Russ won Section A with 4660

Sad looking score card 😫😩😭

Sunday 1st June .......what will happen today ?

Russ North Hopkins owner of Metmask

Expectancy from the guys , will it be as bad as yesterday or ?

Car to your peg - no complaints

My peg 11 today - it looks great but will it ?

A lot of zander and Asp in the water earlier chasing shoals of Bleak

Day started with balling in 10 balls at 11.5 m . Then 5 chucks with soil and caster at 22m .
It started very slow however either side was catching !! After four casts on the feeder line taking three Ruffe (did not count) i moved to the pole line . I went on corn as Bleak were murdering any live bait . After first run through i took a decent Roach then a Bjorkna . I persisted with this to take 32 fish on the corn/pole and one skimmer on feeder . Roach were good dog size and the Bjorkna and skimmer similar so i was pleased to get something better from the weekend. I reckon i could have kept the roach feeding if i had hemp to spray .

Russ with 4125

2nd in section with 5900 for the old man with back problem (time to lose weight after recent illness)

Håkan with 4150 and unlucky yesterday not to get some SEK and today broke a pole section

Top fella is Janne with 5800

Again Thomas wins his section with 9075

Esa with 4775

Patrik with 8025

Chelsea Nutter Jamie with 4975

The days scores

Congratulations to Thomas Larsson - winner overall with two sections firsts
