2020 - STEVE WARNER - His day as all his fishing buddies come together to fish one of his favourite venues

October 4th we fished the Steve Warner match in memory of a truly lovely person who has a huge following of friends who have come together this day to be there for him.

Mark in despair

My report from Peg 12 :

First 30 minutes on far side Lob worm line - Hooked and lost a Big Bream - 5 small Perch and a roach later , match over DNW - Not worried as it was Steve's day .

Rob Wootton who else would draw the flyer but put is to good use and took the whole match with 15lb

Steve as we all remember him

Another photo that for me evokes the period this photo was taken in the 60/70's . Here is Chris and Steve on the Leicester canal using classic rod and reels of that period sitting on wicker or Plastic boxes using maggots from Tommy Wadsworth , Townsends Tackle or Marks and Marlow . The youthful looks and hairstyles so synonymous with that era , and so me also thats why i love this photo as its my era . Those days of fishing that canal and learning from all the great Leicester fishing Aces who frequented the canal , magical days i shall never forget.

I never knew Steve like most did and in fact even though i knew of him i never had the pleasure of fishing with the man . I actually got to know him when i used to visit his Adult shop on London Road when every year i would come into the UK from Sweden and not just to purchase certain products but we would talk for ages in the shop about fishing in UK and Sweden . I wish i had known him more but unfortunately my match fishing was more with local clubs like Greenhill AC and Anstey AC fishing locally on the Leicester to Rothley river Soar so our paths never really crossed . Today i honoured this well liked character with many other anglers i have go to know . Its hoped this match is run every year but unfortunately i cannot fish as soon i depart these shores to go back to live in Sweden to see out my years.
