Last fishing day at TROSA in 19 degrees of heat (still summer) . Next time here is 1st January 2026 so we must give the Trout a chance to go upstream thus we do not wish to disturb them in their travels.
Yes , i know , its a farce . Not only depriving the membership of 3.5 months fishing on a 'YEARS CARD' but giving in to this ridiculous rule which denies specimen and match anglers the best chance of great fishing for PIKE ZANDER PERCH and silver fish , tragic !

Last time this year for me at Trosa as the fishing is not the best due to hardly any rain needed to freshen the river and get some oxygen infused into the water .
Also the Trosa card finishes on the 14th September so your 'YEAR-CARD' is really a 8.5 month card and the rules of this since 2019 is that it must close for the sake of the Trout ! Incredible as it may seem it is the major concern , The Trout !?
I shall be negative as i have the right to be plus many other anglers will have the right to be as the period from mid September till December is also a brilliant time for Pike , Perch , Zander as well as vast shoals of Roach , Rudd , Ide , Bjorkna and Bream are available for some huge weights. So for the sake of the Trout the members LOSE THESE GOLDEN MONTHS. I am sure many specimen PIKE, PERCH and ZANDER anglers would have loved to fish it as they chase vast shoals of white fish into the town.
The club has the authority to set its own rules as clearly for the last 25 years many have enjoyed the mid September to December period which is now taken away because of this self imposed rule? It was three years ago there was a match on the rear side of the canal walk ( i won it). Why can that not happen now?
It is a shame the club finds itself in this situation as there are fewer places to fish through out a 8.5 month season. From January 1st when no boats in the water the whole area is available , if there are some fish there ? Better fishing happens the end of March and into early May before the boat activity increases . Summer time , June , July , August its almost impossible to fish with boat and people traffic . So really the years card is 12 months minus 6.5 months.
I have the greatest respect to the bailiffs ( Like Pasi ) who do a great job keeping the standard of angling and anglers to a high level by putting off poaching anglers who wish to abuse the fish stocks and setting good sensible fish caught with minimum takes . Mostly its Catch and Release !

I got quite excited as i noticed quite a few feeding bubbles activating , ummmm Bream ? Actually a Tench turned over on the surface just above my feed .......i tried for them but no luck.
After 2 hours .......a real struggle
My fishing today was awful as i could only gather 18 fish !! 5 Perch , 3 roach and 2 Bjorkna the rest being Bleak .........all on the Corn !!
With just 2 weeks of the fishing season on the Trosa river / canal / sea estuary left i again took the opportunity to fish , hopefully for a lot of fish .
The morning was damp from the early morning rain and the mosquitoes were active and annoying . I decided to take the 'point' where i have fished so many times as it looked unlikely i would have boat trouble , so i hoped !?
The day is expected to be busy with many visitors as the annual sale in all the shops takes place so bargain hunters a plenty.
Well , not the best of days as only 44 fish on the counter taken mostly on corn. It took an hour before my first fish !! I think maybe the Cormorants had disturbed them as i could see them early morning.
I had 4 nice Perch with Bjorkna , Roach , Rudd and Ide.
Big shame that the precious Trout decide the season which is crazy as in the 25 years i have fished there has never been one caught during a match . I remember those days when we had matches of 20 plus anglers in October and November getting 30-60 kilo weights and not a Trout among them . Great loss to my all year round fishing .
