2020 - Wigston Angling Society Colmic sponsored series - Round 5 - March 14th

Round 5 of the W.A.S COLMIC series and with the current COVID-19 concerns as matches around the country had been called off however this went ahead much to the relief of everyone . Round 4 had seen a very poor fish return , could Sunday produce better ?

The MASses gathered at the usual breakfast table and the atmosphere and banter had soon started

 Rob Biddell was with us

Winner of the day was again my nemesis , Alan Wright . For the second time he won the match with a bream and each time i was next to him ..........he is giving me nightmares !!

IMPORTANT NEWS : ITS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT ON ROUND 4 ALAN CAUGHT 'CYRIL' A POPULAR BREAM CAUGHT MANY TIMES BY LOCAL ACE PAUL TAYLOR . TODAY ALAN CAUGHT 'HECTOR' WHO HAS NOT BEEN SEEN FOR SOMETIME YET PAUL TAYLOR STATES MANY OF HECTORS CHILDREN WERE SEEN LAST YEAR MIXING WITH THE ROACH .  :)

Cliff Hodgkiss today has a pole section broken by a runner ...........terrible news . However this is the second time a such thing has happened as on the 2nd Round match an elderly gentleman also broke a section ...............CLIFF ! ............we are really sorry for you mate

I drew peg 76 with John Wells on peg 77 and after the first 15 minutes of the match we were both in shock as we were catching !!! .....admittedly the fish kept backing away however the whole day we had bites which was a far cry from Round 4 . I must say i felt sorry for John as first part of the match he hooked a substantial Perch 2lb plus .......only to lose it ! .

The winners and section framers  ...........

Rob Bradshaw

Mark Roberts

Jim Gregory of Bennets Browning Bashers

Alan Wright ......Round 6 .......next to me again ???? ......sleepless nights !!!!

Yet again the day was enjoyable from the breakfast to the bar , laughing joking and great comradery through out the day . The series has certainly cemented a great crowd of lads who just love a great day out rain or shine , catch or not . Its a breath of fresher to match angling as we have no elites , egos  or problem people very similar to the Charnwood League . Long may this league continue .
