Equipment preparation and car loading and of to Lindkoping ! ....for practice !
Great Bed and Breakfast ......with its own fishing pool !
We arrived some 4 hours later and started preparing the kit (in swealtering heat )
We decided to visit the venues instead of fishing to get a feel of what the match lengths have. There was several anglers fishing on B and D section from the Lidkoping fishing club who were taking plenty of skimmers ,Bjorkna and odd roach and Perch and Bleak.
Tim and i deferred our fishing just to get the gear right for a good day on the saturday , we hope ?
We arrived on the saturday at the middle part of B and C section. It was easy to haul the equipment to the pegs and get set up. We both planned out groundbait mixes and Tim started with :
Mine was a combination of dark mixes and Leams of different consistencies.
All was calm (before the monsoon rain and storm ) !!!!!!
Tim and i enjoyed a relatively slow start to the proceedings with few fish in the first 15 minutes but after 30 minutes fish were regularly taking the bait . But to upset the proceedings the rain started to pour down and in some cases was having an effect on the fishing . After 2 hours of steady rain i was getting wet and decided to go back for my umbrella at the B+B . I had not expected a deluge of rain considering the weather forecast gave light showers - WTF !
Then the OSCAR and BLIXOR came and it was time to stop and take a pizza for an hour across the road (the road was now a river ). At about 16:00 the water of the road was starting to cascade down the footpath and back into the canal , the gear was starting to get really wet , can we stay much longer ? We did as the rain lessened a little and we started to catch again under the brollies and we caught well . But then at 18:00 we decided to stop which at that point both myself and Tim had stepped away from the umbrellas to start cleaning the buckets ....when .....Crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrack ! Lightening and thunder at the same time exactly above us , for a second i seen silver and thought my time on the planet was ended !! .......I had automatically hit the earth , like Tim but we were lucky that the lightening direction had gone towards the hospital opposite . Phhhhhew ! That was close.
I estimated in the 4 hours i fished in the 6 hours i was on the bank i had about 11.5-13 kilos.
With the promise of better weather Sunday Tim and i decided to not fish but view the match instead as some 20 anglers were fishing the DM match . Our gear had barely dried of so exhausted from our night out in town for some food we took it easy getting up and slowly packed the car and set off in the direction of the town.
The 'Stig' was first to weigh and took his section
Jonas took a good weight
Andreas was top dog with a 20 kilo weight
Gunter took the end section
Anssi on end peg with a 15 kilo bag
