2006 Fishing the river at Karlstad

I started stick float fishing and had 2 rods set up. One rod was a 17' Daiwa with a 10 no4 Lignum-stik. The other was a 14' Preston rod with a 3AAA Avon float. Hook sizes were 14's to 0.15 bottom line and 0.18 reel lines. Depth was about 1.5 metres.
First 'trot' of the float and a bite and a fish !!.......its an ide of about 1.5lb on corn and i am feeding corn with hemp and using Triana groundbait . The next 30 minutes sees me take 7 more ide to about 3.5 lb !!!........then it went quiet and i started catching Dace and roach then the bream moved in and i caught them to about 1.5lb......end of the day i had about 40-50 lb of fish , mostly roach !!
All alone on this river with no other angler in sight !!.......if this was England you would see anglers every where !!

What more can a man ask for ?......beautiful river and stick float fishing

Why are there no matches on this river - this river is like the english River Trent in places

These Ide are fantastic fighters in the powerful river

Following in the footsteps of the enigmatic John Wilson
I followed in the steps taken by Englands master fisherman of T.V. It was about 1988-ish , i think that John came to Sweden to record a series on Swedish fishing. He fished the river at almost the same position as me in 2006. He also fished the large lake in the town to take Crucian carp.
