18TH June - Hjalmere canal

The Team met at Hotel Jamie - top host and Chairman of the Koping Chelsea supporters group . It was our chance to talk about everything surrounding the business and also discuss future plans with fishing matches. We also drank some beer and wine but it was in abstemious amounts with our Chinese meal .

Another master class from Marcus

Next morning we met at the venue with the rest of the guys

Draw time !!

Peg 11 was mine and end peg ! .........Knowing how well it fished the other week on practice i was going for it so 15 balls were prepared with 50-50 gb/leam, after i would place a few concentrated feed balls .....bring on the bream , so i thought !? - how wrong could i be ?

Great maggots from Russ as usual plus his worms are just the best and the casters have to be the best in Sweden by far .

Bombardment of the 15 was the initial feed and the rest was for top ups , if required

What a match length , with work and management this could be a massive fixture for local clubs

Well ! .........what can i say , the match started really slow and it took me 15 minutes to get a bite ! Eventually i secured some fish in the first hour , maybe a dozen see-through skimmers , roach and Perch . I took a walk for the 2nd hour as i could only hear Marcus on peg 10 catching , mostly on feeder plus he secured a bonus Tench , later he had a 2nd unit . Walked down to Jamie on peg 8 who was catching steady and admitted to 22 fish at that stage .
I returned full of enthusiasm to get my tactics sorted so i dropped a few rigs on whip and pole and went for holding back on a heavy float as the fish appeared to want it dead still . It is  canal but it can move and today was no exception as it had a decent flow on it . However it was not until the sun came out about 13:45 as i remember looking at the mobile for the time that then things happened . The flow stopped , bright sunshine occurred and i started to pot in loads of chopped worm . The effect was instantaneous as i had fish there in quantity , be it small ones. with one and half hours to go i struck into a lump thinking it was a Bream of size however it started to dive quickly so it was a tench . Unfortunately for me after playing it for a minute and retracting my pole backwards and dropping 2 sections i went for the landing process only to get fooled and the Tench went into the Lily pads , snagged and the hook came loose . Dam ! , i thought that was my bonus lost for the day . Next door Marcus secured another Tench so there was hope i might still connect .
I really filled it in with worm every 15 minutes and i was rewarded with two quick Tench and some decent Rudd and skimmer . I landed a third but ran out of time but was please that i probably put at least 7 kilos in the net in the last 1.5 hours . So match over i reflected on a bad day as we all thought there would be some 30 kilos plus weights however there was three double figure weights on the day so not too bad .

The place is an aquarium of fish species so if the Bream dont feed then you have Tench , Rudd , Roach , Perch , skimmer, Bjorkna as back up .

Winner Marcus Enstrom

Great net by Thomas

Nice net for Janne , great report he wrote and thanks for the use of the photos

In third place was Russ (Formerly known as Ben Dover )

Janne , thanks to use these two pictures on the weigh in

Alright my Luuuuvvvvs , the scores on the doors ......

Actually quite a peggy day as i witnessed doing nothing for 3.5 hours until the fish turned up , for others the fish did not turn up .

Hope to get another match on there , possibly post summer holiday , watch this space .

12TH jUNE - Köping

Köping match and in preparation for it i met with Jamie at the venue to chalk the peg numbers on the concrete formed stone blocks............. there after we retired to his house for liquid refreshment of alcoholic sort and enjoyed the sun along with good friend Stefan Johansson who was there to pick up a load of new MATRIX gear including a pole .That night we enjoyed a Chinese take away with Russ , Mikael , myself and Jamie washed down with copious amounts of beer and Red Wine.

Stefan and Jamie discussing specimen Chub fishing .

Next day was competition time and the draw was made

Peg 9 for me and i would say the same area i had last year , can i beat my 320 gr i had last year?

Beautiful match length will the fish come to the show ?

Great bunch of lads and i had these two criminals to my right 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Well , well , well ...........the fish did not turn up and and Carina beat a competitive field of good anglers to be the Day's winner ..........massive well done !

6th June - Sodertalje Canal - 3 hour session - WTFjuka !

Day after the trip to Hjalmere canal i decided to test a few rigs and try a few different baits for fun . I chose one of the normal three pegs i often sit on and set up two rigs . The usual 5gr SENSAS Abbieville and a 2.0gr MAURIZIO SCHIEPATTI Sirio .

I delivered 5 early balls in a TOP5 depth (approx. 4.5m deep ) at just 11metres as the wind was very gusty so full length was out . I later went to about 9.5m and caught better closer in .

On previous visit i had connected with several young Ide up to a 1.25lb size , will they still be there ?

I caught early on with double and treble maggot and sometimes two pieces of work but the Perch were having most of the action but slowly Roach moved in and later i had a solitary Bream about a kilo .

Started to take a few fish on corn then decided to experiment with Fjuka Yellow pellet and firing in 5mm corn pellets from MetMask . Using the lighter rig and spreading the bulk i got a nice drop and the bites were really fast and in the last 30 minutes i must have had a good 15 plus roach of size .

Always lovely to see the day tripper boats go out from Centrum/Pershagen

Office

Horrendous walk to the peg

Corn / Fjuka pellets and corn pellets  - great combo

Fjuka picnic

Not the best catch photo but i accidentally tipped half back when placing them in the bucket .......doh !

5th June 2022 - Hjalmere canal with the Boys

Hjalmere canal - Has not failed to impress !

Myself , Esa and Jamie Chelski decided to have a bash having previously last year i enjoyed a good match with the Trosa AFK . We all managed to find three decent pegs and the car parking was reasonable .

First fish was this dainty little Rudd

Next put in was its elder brother

What a superb peg and view in this lovely countryside

After about 90 minutes i took a break as the fishing bites was non-stop as i amassed over a 100 fish of Rudd / Skimmer / Bjorkna / Roach / Perch / Bleak . Took a walk and Jamie was catching steady but was troubled by a small snag .

Esa was using whip and bagging and catching more sizeable fish with several small Bream

Back to the peg and first put in another superb Ruddius  Biggus Sarvius

End of a good 5 hour session and  ......

Esa was top-dog with approx. 30 kilos

Jamie had 15 kilos approx .

I had about 20 kilos of mixed fish

29-05-2022 - Sodertalje canal

Second visit for me to my local stretch of the canal , just 400 meters from my back door ! I sat in a familiar area where i know the contour of the bottom of the swim . Last time i was here i caught 5 Ide so i wonder if they are still there ?

With plenty of worm , corn , maggots and pinkies with some ground bait was the Menu . Rigs in use was a 5gr SENSAS Abbieville to a 14s TRABUCCO 631XB , also a 7m MILO WHIP with a EXNER Juno 3gr to a EXNER SERIE 07 14's. ......3gr EXNER Eliza to a HAYBUSA 16.............also a MAURIZIO SCHIEPATTI Sirio 3gr

Set up at the ready

Maurizio Schiepatti Sirio

Abbieville with doctored yellow tip for a light back ground

A great 5 hours fishing which started slowly with only 7 fish in the first hour but eventually with plenty of chopped worm going in the peg was alive and a continual procession of Roach and Bjorkna with a few bonus young Bream with some Perch created a great net of fish - estimated about just under 20lb 'ish'
