2025 - July 28th - Scania Lake

It has been 7 years since i last appeared at the Lake. Then , it was a small match between the 'Boys' for a memorable afternoons fishing with Percy Bistram , Jimmy Kungsman , Mats Larsson , Johan Tikkanen.

That evening Jimmy had a monster catch of Bream

Top of the Lake on the footbridge

In the past this was my favourite area for Tench , Crucian and Big Bream

Other side of the footbridge is a small basin to the run-off of a stream that runs underneath the Scania Production work to Pershagen

My fave peg of all time

Those dam birds !!!

Time to view the 23 fish ( 1 roach , 1 Perch , 8 Bjorkna , 13 Bream/skimmer)

Not a great day but just nice to get back to my old stamping ground . I shall return and look to fish closer so to put off those diving ducks.

2025 - July 19th - Sodertalje canal with Jacob

English family over for 2 weeks and they certainly brought the hot weather with them since their arrival last Saturday its been stunning weather ! Today i took the opportunity to take my grandson fishing as its been a year since that time . Woke at 06:00 am , to the canal at 07:00 am and fishing by 08:15 am .

The unfortunate side of Sodertalje is the complete lack of discipline . Littering all over the town by just awful low life people who feel at home littering the floor and burning rubber along the road (usually late at night) NOTE: it was nice to see a FARTHINDER (Speed Bump) has been positioned along with several others to stop this ridiculous speed tomfoolery .

Leave their McDonalds on the floor next to the Bin !!! - You could not make it up !!

When i started to bring all my gear down to the waters edge i disturbed what i thought was a huge Carp or other monsterous fish exactly 5m out from where i intended to fish . It was a huge splash and it was only then that i saw a head pop up out the water about 25m away ......It was a Beaver !

Shortly after a Grass Snake about a metre long passed next to my box before i started to fish ! .....anything else about to happen ?

Grass Snake

First drop on the TAP and i had a small Bream - wow , great start , it looks like the pre-feed on Friday has helped.

Another came to the net but lost one also

Used method feeder also and took a small Bream

It was  struggle for the 3 hours fishing . Jacob joined me and he took the biggest Bream of the day and lost another large one on the pole. We had 8 Bream and 2 small Perch.

2025 - Brian Chamberlain - i only just heard the news of his passing.

I have only just learned that Brian had passed away recently and i could not see any news about him from any of the GREENHILL AC Facebook pages !!! He left us in March of this year and it makes me really sad as he was a great friend and i would have liked to have passed my sincere thoughts to any group covering his funeral.

Brian i first met in the late 80's when i am sure he became a member of the GAC . He fished mostly at Roy Marlow's fishery but would occasionally fish with the GAC matches. During the early 90's i had 6 teams of 6 in the 'one - off' match every year on the Trent . It was the Courtaulds classic where we fished Barrow Village , John Thompson Doctors surgery , Metal Works Lane , Power station , The Mound, and Cuttlebrook.

When Brian drifted from fishing he got into KOI-CARP keeping and built himself a large pond with a side viewer to watch his fish. He also installed 4 large filtration units in a separate brick shed for the ponds filtration management. We used to go out on trips to other KOI-Collector clubs to view the fish .

I remember his son ( I think he has at least two sons ?) Robert would also fish Thurlaston lake and other open matches we ran . Brian was a fan of DAIWA fishing gear and i bought second hand of him the famous 'porky-Pig' feeder rod for the times i might draw an animal peg on the Trent.

Bless ya Bri ! 😢😢😢😢
