My first match of the year at the wonderful Örebro Canal . Have not fished it for about 4 years so i kind of new the depths and what to expect. The match organiser is Anssi who is a member of TEAM Splash and and an international for Sweden on many occasions.
I stopped at Jamie Cooleys abode the night before with Russ arriving later that evening after watching my poor Leicester City on TV being defeated and relegated 😥😥⚽⚽.
The weather preceding the weekend was cool weather and the expected rain forecast was arriving however on the day of the competition it was drizzle but very cold , about 3-5 degrees !!
Christer and Lisse arriving in the MATRIX wagon
On arrival the bait was being distributed as well as many products
Good time for many to meet
Just as the bend in the distance goes to the right is the start of the match length
My office for the day as i sat between Andreas to my left and Tommy to my right , no pressure then from the Swedish Internationals either side .
Well ! I started well , the same as Andreas and at about 15 minutes of fishing he had 11 and i had 8 so i thought i am keeping up with the best . Tommy to my right had 1 i think . Far to my right others looked less active .
Later everything thing went really slow and only Snorasch (spelling?) (Millers thumb Bull heads ) were being caught as well as see-through skimmers. Andreas to my left went slider and caught direct with some Perch and roach . I decided to feed again a small ball and direct i had a better skimmer then next cast bumped something bigger , dam ! After that i struggled and only caught better when cupping in a few maggots and Pinkies as i had tried chopping a lot of worm earlier but that only brought Bull heads.
Tommy to my right i could hear chopping so worms were being introduced but it was'nt till last 60 minutes that he found some decent fish . Andreas re-fed his slider line with a few balls and it had an affect as he took two Big skimmers .
Disaster for me but i learned a few things from the guys either side but i could have done with that bumped fish.
