Weather is warm and sunny so it was a no brainer to go and fish the East coast mecca for a bagging session , so i thought ? On arrival i was greeted by many school age children fishing (Easter holidays), must have been over 50 as far as i could see left and right from the corner position i so favour .
So i got set up with two stick float rods and two 6m bagging whips . Started , fed a ball of ground bait with corn .........10 trots down ......nothing ??? ........fish have moved ! . So packed up all the gear and decided to go the furthest up stream to where the fish pass is situated.
View out towards the sea , boats starting to fill up the mooring spaces . In another 4-6 weeks you will struggle to find any suitable fishing positions.
Nobody fishing here so i set up my heaviest stick rod with a 4gr Dave Harrell float and one bagging whip with a EXNER Lucifer 3gr........depth only about 1.3/5 metre !! due to the low water .
First cast ......Ide about 1.5 kilo then the bagging continued.
I got my Swedish fish named species wrong in the video . Its actually a 'Nors' which in Great Britain is a 'Smelt' which i remember catching a few in a match on the River Soar in a Summer League and later having reported the catch of those rare visitors to the EA , i was ticked off for fishing out of season for them - that just sums up the clowns at the EA 🤡🤡🤡
Foul hooked 5 of them - there was that many in the river that i was getting missed bites as they moved on the line as they were not interested in the corn bait.
Nors (Smelt) - Swedish delicacy and it smells of cucumber
One of 7 Big Ide , from 1.2k to 1.8k size approx.
River very low and you can see there is no water flowing over underneath the building for the first time ever i have fished there. Actually its been the lowest rainfall / winter snow melt for many years in Sweden and a hosepipe ban is in place on the island of Gotland ........and Sweden is surrounded with water !!
