I was going to fish yesterday but the weather was damp ,raining and over cast and i did not wish to make my cold/cough of 2 weeks duration any worse so the weather forecast predicted sundays weather to be the best . Recent trips by Johan Tikkannen ,Mats Larsson and Lars Boden have realised great catches of roach and skimmers, so a return to this former prolific water was a must. How will i do ?
Johans catch from previous weekend
Mats keeping dry from the rain
Mats taking good roach on the 11m pole
Bodda with a great catch of roach and a few skimmers
The gear all set up ready......i started with a pole rig of a DINO Super Carp R 2gr on 0.13 line straight thro to a Tubertine 14's . Another rig was a DINO Fox 1.6gr on 0.13 line to a 16's Tubertini , to be used more 'up' in the water. I had a 5m whip set up with a MILO Texier 2.5gr to an 18's Tubertini.
My favourite place under the trees to the right of where Johan ,Mats and Bodda had fished on previous occations.

The Menu for today
Even had time for a sandwich !......started at 09:15 and finished at 15:05
Had approx . 70-30 roach - skimmers percentage with 4 bigger skimmers for about 11-ish kilos. My roach were mostly big and the skimmers small and i filled my large broundbait bowl to half-way when emptying the keepnet. The roach were definately bigger than what Mats,Johan and Bodda had caught so there seemed to be a larger hierachy of fish away from the corner area where the 3 had previously fished. Yet i had fewer fish than the boys. What a great day though , to get so many bites and to get so many big roach , roach that i have not seen in this lake ever ! The lakes form really does bode well for the future and hopefully for future DM matches !!
To summarise : Use minimal groundbait but use plenty of free bait like hemp ,maggots and a little corn but definately use alot of caster as it was my main catching bait plus worm also.
Also; Those diving ducks that had wrecked Johan and Mats fishing on previous days were kept away by my continual bombardment of stone warning shots fired from my trusty catapult . (However some very nice people arrived at the lake with many loafs of bread and fed the duck population , so much so the ducks were never interested in feeding for the rest of the day :-)
