2011 - GREENHILL ANGLING CLUB YEARS - part 2

GREENHILL ANGLING CLUB INTO THE 1980'S STARTED TO DEVELOP AND ACQUIRE OTHER WATERS. IT WAS A TIME OF CHANGE IN THE FISHING METHODS AS THE RIVERS STARTED TO BECOME LESS FISHED AND IT WAS EASIER TO PARK A CAR AT A COMMERCIAL FISHERY AND FISH FOR PLANTED FISH.
THURLASTON LAKE WAS PURCHASED IN 79-80 I BELIEVE AND THE FARMER HAD PLACED 250 CARP 1-2LB AND 500 ROACH AND RUDD. THE FIRST 2 YEARS THE WATER WAS HEAVILY WEEDED AND CLUB MEMBERS WOULD HELP  CLEAR WEED AND HELPED STOP THE WATER FROM CHOCKING UP .
EVENTUALLY WITH FURTHER INTRODUCTIONS OF CARP ,CRUCIAN CARP AND SOME TENCH AND KOI'S THE WATER BECAME FREE FROM WEED EXCEPT FOR THE 4 CORNERS OF THE LAKE WHICH BECAME SANCTUARIES FOR SPAWING FISH.
