2024 - Jan 10th - Trosa - First fish of the year

With time to spare i decided to take a visit on my TROSA Membership card . Normally over the years this can be feast or famine as it appears each year that no years is the same. It was three years ago when arriving back in Sweden from UK that i was invited out by Jimmy Kungsman on 1st January and we bagged up on Bream  (well , Jimmy did !!!)

2024 - January 7th - Mick Holohan Memorial - Wigston AC - GUC South Wigston and Glen Parva - Mick Carr report

Every year Wigston AC run the Mick Holohan Memorial match remembering their great club member. It is always well attended and today there are 55 anglers .

This match is normally fished on the canalised section of the river soar at Aylestone however recent biblical rains from the storms washed out this fixture thus the return to the GUC.

In the Manor restaurant for breakfast

Breakfast tour of the attendees

Draw time outside and the weather was lovely and warm

The expectancy of the draw - who will get the pegs that performed best on the Fur and Feather ?

Peg 33 on the Wires was mine so it was a shortish walk

To the right of my Peg is Paul Taylor - Hoping to catch 'Harold' ( has been a joke for years that Paul knows all the Big bream on first name terms on all the canal length )                                                            😂😂😂😂😂🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

Across and to the left

Another great well run competition by Adam Nurse and all the Wigston AC committee and helpers . Later we had a raffle and my day was not totally spoilt as i won a Landing net .

2024 - Winter Preparation for the season

Over the Xmas period into the New years i have kept myself busy creating the rigs for 2024. All my floats are from the Metmask stable where i know i will receive quality.

I decided to prepare my deep canal and have river rigs to compliment my lighter float rigs i already have prepared plus all my flat float ranges which are all renewed from last years usage.

GARBOLINO SPT19 4gr

GARBOLINO SPT19 2.0gr and 3.0gr

GARBOLINO SPT19 1.0gr and 1.5gr

EXNER ILIASZ 3.0gr 4.0gr and 6.0gr

EXNER ZELMA 10gr , 12gr and 14gr

Hopkins Special 6.0gr - ILIASZ 12.0gr - SENSAS PIESTANY 10gr

SENSAS JEAN FRANCOIS 3.0gr and 4.0gr

All the above floats can be purchased at Metmask , some are in stock and some can be ordered - enquire with them on availability .
My recommendations are for the GARBOLINO SPT19 - Titanium memory wire and great visibility in the tips with colour coding weight scheme.
