2024 - Matches of the year (backed by METMASK) - Nykoping April 6-7th and May 4-5th

The 2024 matches at Nykoping will be April 6-7th and May 4-5th . Big weights expected so therefore it could be possible to run another in June or later in the year September/October time, so watch this space ?

As yet we are not sure if we should expand the April matches to include the Regular match length but if we have interest for these matches at the car park end then see if we will expand the interest ?

All matches are backed by Metmask where the best top quality bait can be delivered too as well as delivery of all pre-ordered products like MATRIX , PRESTON , DRENNAN , GARBOLINO , LORPIO , SONUBAITS , SENSAS........and more .

The Swedish match calendar is starting to get populated and from our perspective we shall start with an early April match at Nykoping (initially we are thinking of the Car park / Dog Compound ) then later with the traditional Feeder matches on May 4th-5th.

This year Mats and Phil practiced on the new section ( see links below for details of the pegs and results ). Those practices were;

Firstly Mats Larsson tried this in early April just as the last ice was clearing - the result was a pleasant amount of Bream caught on Feeder !

 Later on May 7th i practiced on the length with a tremendous catch of Bream / Rudd / Ide / Roach / Bjorkna.

 Later on May 21st i practiced again using whip and rod with great results catching  Bream / Rudd / Ide / Tench / Roach / Perch / Bjorkna.

The interesting thing was both Mats and i fished the Carpark end of the water where the Dog Compound is located and considering we fished in early April and May it was clear the fish were in quantity at this new section. Whether there is a greater fish shoals at this end compared to the regular match length remains to be seen ?

It was after these practices that we entered the full-on Feeder Cup competition on the normal match length and even with some work on these swims to clear the weed it still turns out to be a difficult match length to secure a platform / box for comfortable fishing . The most difficult being the wading out when your ankles are being covered by silt.

Its realised that many of us are getting older and the difficulty of wading out in these pegs is not for the elder people plus it poses a health problem if some anglers fall in , which has happened with a few where they slip front end and water cascades down their waders etc .... So to rectify this we will run 2 separate matches at Nykoping on the same day/s;

- One for the Regular match length run by Mats (estimate 18-24 pegs)

 - One for the Older English/Welsh moaning Gits πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ run by Phil (estimate 10-15 pegs)

Seriously we need this as many of us are in our 50/60/70's and it gets more difficult to manoeuvre in these swamp conditions . This Nykoping match has always been tricky in the 'Mud' but now we ALL have to start thinking about our health as we do not want any twisted leg and ankles.

On May 4-5th Mats regular match will continue to be feeder but as for the New section match then we might decide to open it up with waggler, whip and pole as well as feeder ?

I hope that the anglers who do not have platforms and wish sit comfortable will be allowed to fish the 'Phil' match allowing the younger, fitter, well equipped guys to continue on the regular match length.
