2023 - MAY 18th TROSA open match (Red day) - Murder of Fish on an Industrial scale.

What i am about to say i feel compelled to do so as i hear of a mass killing of fish when there is no need !

I have fished the waters for some 22 years and i know of this annual killing match combined with a few other killing matches they have on these waters . For me it is ridiculous to hear of such archaic , old fashioned competitions as it would appear they have not progressed from their caveman image .

Now i compromise on this by saying that Ice-Fishing i fully understand that it is impossible to retain the fish and release so naturally the fish are killed , that is okay with me . Even our friends in Norway are being forced to kill fish when not ice fishing as their Woke Left-wing government have banned keep nets , how did they decide that and what is the evidence when you think the vast majority of European countries use Nets !!

For me when i see TRADITIONAL ANGLERS , 'Traddies' , i see old fashion thinking people who do not give a shit about how many fish they will kill as they think they grow on trees and replacements are a plenty . But it is not just that , its the form of angling that really gives nothing to the Tackle trade like the Specimen and Match angling fraternity. These two disciplines purchase very costly gear but the Trad angler purchases hardly anything and does not make a contribution to modern angling .

When i started fishing it was the enjoyment of photographing the catch whether it was a pleasure session or a match but do you notice that the 'Trads' do not show their Dead fish with broken necks? Also i think , well where are these dead fish now, what do they do with them , eat some , freeze them , mash them and fertilise the vegetable plot ? But when you have Dead fish winning weights of 20 kilos then where do you put them ?

This match at Trosa which i have known about every year in my living within Sweden it has always troubled me that the people who organise this , did they ever consult the normal membership who dont kill on mass before this match took place . So its okay to pay a 1000.00 SEK for a years membership (January 1st to September 15th , the trout protection closure period ) and now i after this match i am unable to catch some of the 350 kilos of fish that have been murdered , was there a vote for this match , was i consulted, No! of course not , i paid my 1000 SEK and have to except this tragic competition .

Can you imagine what anglers all across Europe think of this stupid match and many more matches like this in Sweden . For example you take Soderhamn , last year according to several match results the Trad Army caught 3.6 tonnes of fish !!!! ........staggering and the warnings are there as the resident fish will soon be less and match attendances could possibly drop . Even if they dont it is ridiculous that so many fish die because people are too lazy to buy a keepnet !?!?!?!? What makes it worse is that the Trads now fish with ground bait to attract more to the killing-grounds.

Europe is watching and i will inform them of this ancient style of fishing in Viking land as i will record the Trosa match next year as well if i get the chance to record the Soderhamn Trad matches . I also want to point out that the Bream have yet to breed so many of them were carrying roe , what a waste ! Also at the weir section where the fish-pass exists i have seen may going up stream like Ide , Perch , Roach and some perch , they are the lucky ones who got past the killing grounds.

Here are the results of that match , unfortunately there are no catch photos as that would make un-pleasant viewing for the vast majority of Europe who fish with compassion for the species . Just read and imagine the 350 plus kilos of dead fish ..............

TROSA MATCH RESULTS :

To summarise : Traditional angling is for Disrespectful people who will not change their ancient ways . Modern angling is the only way to build up the angling trade in this country . Sportsfiskarna should make every effort to stop TRAD FISHING and move angling into the future .

2023 - May 28th - Hjalmare Kanal - A viewing with some fishing

Made the visit to Hjalmare Kanal to view this excellent area for fishing but importantly to view the fishing places for any possible maintenance , which there was but very little and i could easily fix with the tools i had .

I paid for a Day Ticket (75 SEK) so knowing i was legal i could enjoy myself.

I spoken with the guy in control of match notifications ('Janne') and he informs me the match is FREE. That is great news and we will honour that decision by behaving well on the bank and causing no litter (i know we are the best bunch of guys 😀😀😀😀😀.

Further a long the section i find a jack pike that has been left on the bank as well as battered a little - is there no decency with anglers ( they are not anglers )

I completed some maintenance on the pegs - Peg 1

Earlier is visited the Sluss and Cafe

First time i have visited the Marina and Cafe and i am truly impressed . What a great place to have a draw for the match with Breakfast and a drink after the match ????? 👌👍😏

Discovered New section!?

I had deliberately travelled past our match venue to hunt for any new sections and i came across this piece of the canal ............

This section could easily accommodate 10 maybe 13 anglers and combined with the other section gives scope for a larger competition . Is there anymore like this ? Actually i did find others but they are a little too high up of the water .
