2021 - Sรถdertรคlje Kanal - DM1 - Augusti 29

Sunday August 29th and time for a DM competition on my local water , how fortunate that i am to just 400 metres walk away (1 km by car ). It was also great to meet new faces and people i have only seen on Social Media however great to meet the famous , talismanic and mercurial Sweden's Mr.Piscatorial Top Organiser one of Stockholm's finest DJ's and music connoisseurs, yes ! it is the sanctimonious god of super soul music Mr Johan Tikannen  alias ;    ' DJ-KRAZY'

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

On the Saturday evening after my granddaughters 3rd Birthday i decided to visit the match length and i was pleasantly surprised to find the bank had been cleared of all tall grass and small bushes - well done Sodertalje Kommune !

Sunday's drive to the venue was strenuous

The match people started to arrive - so lucky to have a dry day as the predicted rain from the week before had not materialised

The night before there was a LIVE draw on Facebook and all the pegs were drawn for the anglers

We used to park here over the years but now they have marked this out of bounds as some of us found out to our costs earlier this year on another match when i was fined 900 SEK !!! ........Outragious as there are no signs supporting the NO PARKING ?

Crystal clear

Peg 6 for me , familiar area as i have fished it so many years

All the Gear and no idea as they say (it did prove to be by 14:00 pm)

Menu for the fish

First skimmer for Jonas - this is becoming a familiar pattern for me just here as previous match i was beaten of same peg !

Tug boat or Pilot boat ?

Peg 7 , my Hero Jonas Berglund, two good skimmers and a roach for 1320

Peg 6 - An embarrassed Phil with 120gr , 3 fish in first 15 minutes.

Well , what can i say , nothing really as no excuses. I tried Slider in 5-7m deep , i would have at least expected a Bleak but no bites . I tried the whip but no advantage there . I tried a small feeder at 20m and a big fat zero ! Decided to just put in chop worm and fish over it for the last 2 hours as Jonas to my right was just laying on and had the two skimmers . At the end i could not believe i finished last . FISHING KIT FOR SALE ( Golf next ! .......neahhhhhhh ! )

Peg 5 Andre Wismar with 800 gr

Peg 4  Bjorn Widerberg with 1540

Peg 3 - The God Father of Stockholm soul ...... the days winner in Elite class with 4980

Peg 2 Kent Hager with 1800

Not in the Elite class and gets 8190 ! - well done Jarmo Pietals

Massive congratulations to Bjorn and his team organising a very polished event - Priceless work and rewarded with a good attendance .

2021 - Norrkoping August 21/22 - VM Series and this the final match - who will qualify ?

The VM is a series of matches over three weekends of two matches per weekend . Basically points in your section are vital so if you finish in the top 3 you get a medal and along with the other top anglers have a chance to go and fish for Sweden in the World and European float fishing championships.

The script was wrote and it was successful ! Hail Gyula , Sweden's 'Kung'

SATURDAY 21ST AUGUST

Sรถdertรฃlje - the start of the journey to the VM at Norrkoping

A section and the Lars Lind OCTBOX gear looking highly impressive and now one of the most popular BOX systems in the UK

Christer Pantzar playing with his Balls

I was indeed honoured to be in the same area as this Legend , the Mighty , the Bagging machine phenomena which is Stefan Holst - Swedens fishing star equivalent to what Tomas Brolin is to Sweden's International football.

Ready and waiting and saying hi to great friend Mikael Tono

Shaun Keavey a recent recruit from 2015 to Sweden and the fishing match scene . He has distinguished himself admirably with many good results and winnings - great to meet the guy for the first time

A SECTION

Anssi in thought

Kent Adell - Another Legend of huge proportions who has gained Internationally a podium Bronze for the Vikings and set Bagging records where ever he goes.

Tom Ostland - Massive in Swedish match fishing and his CV reads long in International experience

Gyula Bercsenyi - A great alround angler and a specialist in all things Waggler and Slider

Jonas Janson who commands great writings and information on the Swedish match scene and especially on the Feedertorget - back from his International Feeder championship in France where he performed brilliantly to gain a first day 4th . It was a tough venue but the experience the team gained is now in the memory banks of Swedish match angling .

Great to see 'Lisse' Lind , another great character with very much experience in the match scene .

Christer Pantzar - Mivardi man of excellence in his kitchen of Magic Mix - great bloke and gaining a reputation on the match scene

Andreas Sandberg - another SPLASH angler of the six in the weekends matches -  A hugely experienced angler at International level  who has represented his country many times - I asked him how many which was unfair of me as clearly he was preparing for the match - On the Sunday he told me he thought about and it was many countries he has fished in which was ; Italy , Slovakia , Portugal , Bulgaria ,Croatia ,Hungary ,Poland and coaching in Slovenia and Belgium .

Christer Engval , organiser with the SWEA fishing club who like myself , Kent Adell , Milokovic are the weekend blockers so not to give the main participants an advantage - Known Christer most of my time whilst in Sweden , just a dam good bloke to know and always helpful and a very good angler.

As an end-pegger next to peg A9 (Tom Ostland) i was able to view before and during the match anglers going about their business but it also gave me an insight to tactics and feeding. On the day all the end pegger's had no Joker not like the match anglers however our goal was to create a barrier against the next angler so not to give any advantage . However the use of the Joker proved to be a large difference on the day (Except for Kent on furthest peg out who hit 25 plus kilos of Bream).
My day i decided to fish pole at 9-11m and fish at 6-7m on the whip . I enjoyed it as i watched Tom take possibly 10 Large skimmers and Bream in the first 90 minutes backed by good class of roach . I noted the way he fed his lines and the rigs he was using so that is now in my memory banks .

End of the first days match and time to weigh in ;

The days record sheets

SUNDAY 22ND AUGUST

Sunday's match i went onto B section where Milo was fishing the day before . Christer fished A section on the same peg again as my peg was left free due to some potentially angry Wasp's nest . Kent also went back onto the same peg .

Fredrik on Saturday's A section winners peg (A9)........will it be the same ?

Christer on A8

Shaun on A7

B  SECTION - expectancy is high for large weights ?

In my Kitchen

To my left

To my Right the B section match lads

What an outstanding view

My peg came with its own tackle shed

My Swords of choice at the ready :

SENSAS Valencia whip at 7m with EXNER 3gr Polli
TRIANA whip at 6.5m with EXNER 3gr Juno
BATTLE POLE whip at 6m with EXNER 2.5gr Lucifer

SENSAS 74 XL River Pole :
Top 5 with MATRIX 4-6 elastic to SENSAS Jean Francois 4gr
Top 5 with MATRIX 2-4 elastic to Marazio Schiepatti Sirio 2gr
2 x Top 5 with PRESTON 3-4 elastic to Marazio Schiepatti Draco 2gr

My aim was to sensitise my rigs and work on the bristles for bites by using back shot above the float that i could manipulate to get just the right bristle showing . I also decided to pot in all day every 15 minutes with 50/50 dark gb / light leam / binding leam . However my initial feed in the 10 minutes pre-bait i placed in 15 balls on two lines . My 4gr rig i wanted to keep the bait still with about 7-10 cms on the bottom with worm (where i had all of my 7 Bream and skimmers)

Well ! the expected large weights did not materialise on B section , in fact they were less than the day before , how could you legislate for that ? The A section actually was better weights so there is one for the history books ?

 A SECTION

A1 - Jonas Jansson 6735

B2 Fredrik Blom 1955

B3 Johan Nilsson 3615

B4 Daniel Blom 6575

B5 Tommy Lindblom 4860

B6 Lars Lind 3975

B7 Jonas Mattsson 5825

Anssi - A happy chappy on B8 7825 winning B section

That rather nasty Bream blocker Kent Adell had a lot fewer fish which set the tone for B section as it returned lower weights from the day before and A section was really good !

So the Leagues Top 3 were on the podium for their just rewards

(However a little hat adjustment was required )

Great competition but Gyula shined through to be 1st with Tom in 2nd place and Andreas was 3rd .

They now have a chance with others to represent Sweden in the next Internationals

An end to a great series and the same to be repeated next year
