Great to meet up with the TROSA SFK guys again on another competition and the days venue is the Sodertalje canal opposite ASTRA ZENICA .
Match preparation was 2 x TOP 5's with 2gr and 3gr EXNER Elizsa floats with 0.15/0.12 to 16 and 14's TRABUCCO 121XB hook's. I also included a 7m whip with a 3.0 gr EXNER Juno .
Mix of the day was MIVARDI MATCH with PROFESS Turbo with dead maggots and corn .
My peg 4 (The peg i normally fish from in pleasure sessions )
Jari ready to give the signal to both sections
To my left is Johan , Jimmy and Percy
Bad day for me ...........First of all in the first hour my top two came off and sank ! . Then just after i could see an official van placing parking tickets on our cars behind us so i walked over to the guy and tried to reason with him . He said i was parking on the grass ? I was not and nor was the other three anglers cars and i said where is the sign that tells us not to park here , he did not reply ! All the years we have been parking there off road and this is the first time to be fined , outrageous .............900 SEK !!!
The only good news was when playing a fish the line picked up my line i lost with the top 2 connected so i landed 2 roach and got my top 2 back , small concellation . Worse of all i finished 4/5 and my form (never had any ) is dipping continuously , time to look at those golf clubs me thinks !?
Match organiser Jari , all round great bloke who put me to the sword with 6.5 kilos
Johan with 4.5 kilos
Jimmy winner of the section with 8.5 kilos ...........No pestering Bleak for him all day !
Another Jamie match saw 16 hardy anglers looking for a days fishing and hope the expected bad weather would not upset the proceedings however later in the match the cruel windy wet weather came to spoil the party in the last 2 hours - WHEN IS THE SUMMER STARTING ???
I travelled on the Saturday to stop at Jamies abode and with Russ there we certainly got some business and planning sorted as well as drinking vast amounts of wine , not me , just drank Tea . Morning came quickly and the Kitchen was alive of the smell of bacon and egg cobs , not me , i just had my special juice . Of to the venue to meet up with the hardy souls as Jamie pegged the match length to the best of his ability.

Well ! what a day , after the initial ground bait bombardment (within the period of the match) the majority sat there and ............nothing for at least 30 minutes , then i took a small Bjorkna on feeder . As the first hour passed only the end pegs appeared to be enjoying some sport . Wished i had not balled it in at this point and just potted in choppy and dead maggot . Anyway i picked up about 6 fish and poor Mats to my left had nothing until half way thro the match ! . The fish appeared to be in pockets or nothing at all !
The rain came in the last 2 hours to compound a bad fishing day and a few anglers had better luck but most did not .
Marcus Enstrom with his super skill managed to find some better specimens and took 2nd in the match with 5325
Carina with 150gr
Patrik with a decent net 2250
Not easy weighing in and recording and photographing so i apology for not taking so many photos .
Congratulations to Russ to win with 6625 , Marcus 2nd with 5325 and Janne 3rd with 3550 .
My day just got worse as after the weigh in i noticed i has left a skimmer in the net , my largest fish . Later when i put the keep net away i found the Ruffe i caught also ....... it does not get any worse than this !
Onwards to the next match and well done Jamie for a well run match .
EXNER quality products sold well in UK and their quality found the UK anglers liking their reliability which was without question and they still sell in certain outlets backed myself.
Metemask have exclusive rights to sell into Scandanavia and are proud to offer all their customers the best in quality whip floats .
Exner Head man Attila Nagy has used his expertise in International match fishing to make floats of this highest standard and these are available exclusively through Metemask . Attila former World Champion with his Hungarian team plus also a winner at International Club level and also a successful coach with the Hungarian U14 youth teams has placed all of that International winning expertise into float designs.

After all these many successful achievements Attila designed the 'Carbon Magic Slider' which has an all carbon filament stem that can be replaced for another stem at any time . The plastic tips are of various sizes and colours and different diameters for viewing in certain conditions - these fit into a common receptacle that all the floats ranges are based on . When you make your first cast using this float you will be sold on it , simply an awesome distance and sensitive float .
Many articles wrote about the EXNER range and one of the best if from David Herron a Northern Ireland International .
Can be exclusively purchased in Sweden/Norway/Denmark at ;
What can i say but , what a marvellous venue , car to the peg with an easy bank to place the gear on , absolute quality choice to fish here .
There are a few layby areas so general public can pass in their cars
Looking to the right of my peg - how good is this place !
I decided to make 4 pole rigs of approx. 1.25 to 1.75 in depth . Three rigs were for a 9-11m line and a close rig to fish at 3-4m also with a whip . Groundbait on the day was from the MIVARDI stable sold at MetMask including the best bait in Sweden now cited by many fine anglers and clubs , great work Russ.
The match commenced and i placed three balls in at 11m and placed a few closer balls by hand . I immediately went out on a MAS SM1 1.25gr with a EXNER 1.0gr olivetti with droppers and to a 16s 3405 SENSAS . In the first 30 mins or so all of us caught in our 5 man section but they were mostly small fish with nuisance bleak trying to muscle in so i switched to a 14s hook and half a worm and the effect was direct as i landed a bream about a kilo and a good skimmer . Then i lost two so i decided to change to my lighter elastics like solid SENSAS yellow No5 and MATRIX 3-4 . This helped but the Bleak were still a nuisance so i fed more ground bait closer to prepare for some speed fishing but then fed just chopped worm in soil with plenty of corn and dead maggots at 9m . It was good all the way till the last 90 minutes when my peg started to die yet to my right they were catching quite well . I tried to create a new area but that failed so i started to catch small fish closer but not quick enough so i changed back to 9-11m line and fished the corn taking two large roach and two large Rudd but my last 30 minutes was a disaster as only a few small roach and Bjorkna .
I weighed in just 9860 for a 4/5 in section
The comedian Percy to my right showing his best fish
Thats more like it and a 5600 for Percy
Jimmy next with a great haul ob 16 plus kilos
I think he had 13 kilos ?
Johan about 12 kilos ?
There was another section further away and we heard that was won with 17 kilos !
Great venue and i really want to get back there for another match soon
Trosa have a match in 2 weeks at Arboga (to be confirmed)
Next week there is a match with Jamie over at Koping
With Carola travelling to the ' Girls' for the day i took advantage of the situation and decided to make use of the fine weather with four hours fishing . I met a a few people i know and we chatted for sometime but so nice to meet people i knew at Scania Truck .and Bus
I managed to secure my usual peg as nobody fished here anyway so no fear of losing out for that spot . I kitted up with 2 rigs of 1.5gr EXNER Carp 2's and administered 3 balls of ground bait with the usual free offerings . Wind became a nuisance early so i reduced to fishing at 9m for better control . First hour i took just 2 perch and a roach. I decided to set up 4 whips in readiness for the weekend and after an hour i resumed fishing and started to catch a few on small pieces of worm then caught some decent roach and an Ide on corn .
The water was still very cold and with a bright sunshine day i think the fish were not totally having it , In a few weeks it will be Bream bashing time .
Nyköping evokes many great memories of fishing matches i have fished there in the past and the great battles with Bream shoals (with Tench , Roach , Bjorkna , Rudd ) as they prepare for their breeding fest . Trosa SFK are the club that organise this event lead by supremo Johan Kindlundh the organiser of this two day spectacular event. This is one in the calendar you don't want to miss.
Johan greeting with a smile and after 6 years we meet again mate

I managed to get into the water and set up my box however i must invest in a platform as clearly they're a must for this style of fishing . Unfortunately i had not used these leg waders for sometime and the left leaked and the right boot slipped down allowing a surge of water in so i sat the whole match with cold feet , not the best of situations . Match started and within 10 minutes Fredrik Samuelsson on next peg struck into first fish a decent size Bream .

First days results
Second day arrived with a promise of horrible foul weather and driving rain - deep joy !
This time i brought my full waders however i could not get out in the water like Jesper did the day before so i decided to fish in the water close to the bank . Great mate Mats Larsson got into the water and cleared a channel out for me and i was most grateful as my old body does suffer from the cold so i was able to keep my feet out of the water .
The day got worse weather wise after about 2 hours of the match when the wind swung around and came into your face and it rained . Soon you started to feel cold and without decent weatherproof clothing you are well and truly fucked . Jamie to my left waded fully out to his waist however the cold got to him and he had to retire after catching at least 10 kilos in first 2 hours . I think we both said we must gear up for these conditions and start investing in decent platforms etc ....
Anyway my choice of sitting further back cost me several decent fish as they snagged up in the weed but that was my choice so next year i shall plan better with better clothing and decent equipment and larger hooks (Thanks Kent )
So it was end and the second day and even though the weather was awful and dam cold the fishing was incredible as the catch returns doubled on the Sunday .
First to weigh in section A was Fredrik with 31440 .....A1
Jimmy my personal medic was on A2 with 34980 (sorry no picture due to frozen fingers and steaming up camera lens from the incessant rain - forgive me mate
On A3 Tadas with 14660

Wilhelm on A8
Krzysztof with 22700 on A9
Magnus with 27660 on A10
Patrik on B1 with 9860
Jaraslov on B2 with 26180
B3 was Jamie and the cold got the better of him which was a shame as he gained 2nd place the day before
Me on B4 with 14540 , cold , wet but still enjoyed it and will be back next year , certainly equipped better
Esa with a great catch of 3160 from B5
Mats my medical assistant on B6 with 29300

On B9 was Laurus with 19240
On B10 was the other bagging machine Stefan with 44120
THE RESULTS - How good ?
Since returning from UK last year after 6 years away i realised after this weekend just how short i am of gear for Swedish fishing . This has shown me i need to get sorted out for a platform , maybe a new box but most of all is changing my gear over to this form of fishing as certainly with Arboga which certainly was a feeder match along with the Nykoping match a change is required and i must get better warmer clothing for when the situation allows .
My next order i think will be a MK platform
I need to o look in the Toy catalogue
https://www.mkquattro.com/mk4-2021/
I also learned my lesson in how to strip the dead reed stick from last year - DONT BREAK THEM WITH YOUR HANDS !!!!
Foolishly i put a large gash in a finger that did not stop bleeding - thanks to my medical assistants Mats and Jimmy they saved the day with tissues and plasters .So the weekend was a learning curve on what to do and what not to do , next year wiser , i hope .
Nice EXNER hooks from METMASK at https://www.facebook.com/groups/606357700073232

Big thank you and massive well done to Johan Kindlundh for organising the weekend - HUGE WELL DONE TO YOU MATE !
