2024 - TROSA - A fishing Mecca on the east coast of Sweden

TROSA - A mecca for fishermen

Over the years Trosa has provided me with some excellent fishing since i first came to Sweden to work back in 2001 as design engineer for Scania trucks and Bus. When i first came i had minimal fishing equipment but eventually i had fishing gear that matched my intentions for match fishing. In the early days i would match fish with my own team but also fished some open matches at Trosa where it was plain to see the potential of these waters . In matches weights of up to 50 kilos could be achieved and pleasure sessions especially in October to December were exceptional for me and i have logged many catches in my Blog ;

Trosa in recent years has transformed itself even more by taking on Bailiffs who patrol the waters and excluding people who want to cause trouble by illegal fishing. So you know when you purchase a Trosa fishing card you are backed up by protected angling

Hans and Pasi - chief bailiffs of the waters

I recommend gaining a fishing card and you can go online at ;

Go to the information page and learn the availability of the fish species you can expect to target ;

Never heard of a 'Zope' but with translation to swedish its known as a Faren ?

Silver Bream is a Bjorkna

FAREN

BJÖRKNA

VIMMA

Statistics for 2024

What i find incredible is the amount of Ide going upstream compared to the Ide downstream ....52730 compared to 27814 ........my thoughts are do all the FISH ever comeback down to the Baltic sea end ? Since the construction of this fish pass (3 years) the numbers of fish going upstream is incredible , 57496 and downstream 32629 so far this year. Before this new fish pass the original fish pass was only good enough for leaping trout and salmon so no other fish were travelling but now masses are . Obviously Ide are the greatest number in migration but interesting are the other species of note;

Bream 1131/1372

Vimmer 1317/810

Roach 1035/771

Perch 739/1000

Eel 334/191

Trout 159/191

Pike 20/16

Bjorkna 1/15

Young Salmon , Whitefish , Burbot , Tench and Rainbow trout are in single figures. No mention of Dace , Rudd and Bleak (thousands there but i dont believe they migrate ) but i have caught them there. No Chub but at Nykoping they do exist as statistically they have been shown to pass the camera. I have heard over the years that someone has caught chub (Färna)in Trosa ?
