Saturday i drove from Sodertalje to Koping where Jamie resides and from there we drove to Arboga in his car to reconnoitre the match length at all the potential pegging and indulge in a spot of fishing. Due to the wind being rather bracing we opted to fish the other side to get out of the main gusts.

ARBOGA METMASK CUP - Sponsors are :
After a couple of hours fishing and clowning around (?) Michael had a play with my gear and caught a very nice Bjorkna .
English clowns :..... started by me losing my Top 2 , it sank several metres to my left and attempts by Michael and Esa to retrieve were not successful initially but Esa used a top 5 from Jamie to try to hook it blindly as the top had sunk . Eventually he did hook it after snagging his own rig to the bottom . Then the top appeared and he saved the day .........i owe you mate ! (Jamie's Flat float rig was trashed , sorry Bro , get you one of my rigs next time i am up there )
Then to cap it all Jamie then lost his keep net into the water and frantically Esa and Mikael jammed it between two landing nets and managed to hook it back up , just !
English Clowns !!
MATRIX-Mikael
Nice net of about 3 kilos
Bruvva Jamie
Back to Jamies abode in Koping - Mikael resting from his fishing action with a glass of Red , me too !
Jamie just tieing up the Union Jack
Sunday Morning and no wind (at the moment) , that did change later . Time for bank clearance so down to Section B where Russ , Jamies and mikael were extracting all the maintenance gear out of their vehicles.
Russ refuelling - he was a hero strimming like hell all the pegs
Bruvva Jamie also trimming out as far as possible
With Kommune also keeping down the bank side vegetation plus Russ creating perfect pegs this match length is looking really good for the competition . However with 4 weeks before it commences you can expect the grass to start growing .
I don't know how he did it - Bad back for last 10 years an he manages to strum the whole bank - well done mate you are a diamond .
With a few weeks before the matches we hope to take out weed on all pegs in the coming weeks with a rake so to create plenty of room for keep nets .
After Lunch at the local eating hostelry we attacked Section A to get that looking the business . Jamie managed the whole match length and wanted were possible to have a set distance between pegs so nobody was too close to each other - great job bruvva .

13 i must have missed , but there is one !
I must say that Jamie and Russ did a sterling job in hacking and strimming the bank side vegetation and tree branches . Mikael and myself cleared the branches away and helped where we could .
METMASK MATCH ORGANISATION:
Jamies organisation of the match length lends itself to continued management year on year so the pegs become permanent fixtures and with a possibility of an Autumn weekend match then the match calendar by METMASK again shows our interest in providing the very best in OPEN matches .
Dont forget to get your bait ordered as METMASK will be delivering on the Saturday ........... and get Jamie 'SWISHED' in good time .
I have seen over many years anglers (if you can call them anglers) take so many fish out for food or fertilizer on gardens or they have so many cats!
Can these people be that poor that they have to rape waters to stick some 50 large IDE into their freezers (Verified by a trusted source from the last weekend ) I am totally convinced many if not most of them have no fishing permits.
PROBLEM WITH TROSA :
- No Bailiffs perambulating the river bank checking for permits , checking for illegal taking of fish.
- They need more signs to promote CATCH and RELEASE and where applicable for fish to be taken they should be of strict numbers .
- There is signage that is clear enough for these morons to see. They need challenging as only way to put them of coming to Trosa or any other place in Sweden.
- If caught by officials (laugh !) without Licence - banned for a year and name publicised on TROSA website / Facebook pages .......oooooops , cannot do that as against their Human Rights ! - WTF !!
- If caught with excess fish over the take limit then banned.
- Show a rule where fishermen must fish at least 5m apart as .... (i hope they can swim as that will be my answer the next time they come close )
Signs like this (VIDEO BELOW) are good but completely overlooked - if you do not stamp your authority on the ' rape-anglers' then they will laugh at you and just take the piss . Please consider placing more authority on the fishing in Trosa or otherwise you will lose many anglers (like me ) who will give up as they pay for their Season fishing card and they know like me that these horrible people definitely will not have a licence to fish . Wake up Fishing clubs and communities and start to apply pressure on this low life scum who want to TAKE and never GIVE !!!
Personally if this is not actioned upon i shall continue to write throughout Sweden and other countries about this AND I SHALL NOT PARTICIPATE IN FISHING TROSA BUT GO ELSEWHERE TO WATERS I KNOW ARE PROTECTED !!
With the recent warm weather i decided to try Trosa for about the 4th time since Christmas to see if the fish are responding to the increased temperatures .
When arriving into the town i decided to view the weir at the top of the town to see if fishing looked feasible . On arrival there was about several foreign anglers throwing our really amateur gear with floats that were sending our beacons they were that big and standing out . It didn't matter to them as they were after what they could take , they took out a lot i later found out . 👎😡😡😡😡😡😡
I decided to carry on up to where the river widens to the harbour area opposite the Bohmans Hotel. There i met up with good friend Stefan Johansson who i have known for many years . He is a great specimen angler and environmentalist who respects his fishing and the fish that are caught in terms of catch and release .
Earlier that morning in Sodertalje ;
Trosa weir
Stefan prefers a centre pin for moving water fishing - takes me back to those Trent days when so many anglers used them for perfect control .
Classic Centre pin
Stefan with yet another Ide , he had 11 in total !
Cracking fish and his best was 2.650 kilo
Great weather day , in fact too bright and when the towns folk and other anglers came down causing much disturbance the fish backed of.
My place just upstream from Stefan and just the one fish for my toils
Just the one , but a nice one
Back home and it was Leicester 2 Brentford 1 to cap a great day
IVAN MARKS MEMORIAL - always a great fixture for a great man , a man never forgotten but continually spoken about.
Bob Ashford - 2022 winner of the IVAN MARKS MEMORIAL match with trophy and winnings - A very good angler and a very popular angler within the angling community .
Meeting at McDonalds
Down on the bank and Dave Mellors at the ready
I know this bank well , have been pegged here a few times

The author of all this video and picture work is the main man 'Mick Carr'
Bob Ashford at the weigh in - little did he realise the whole match had fished hard and he was about to be crowned winner/champion .
My best mate Mick Carr fished this and he compiled a few photos and short videos of the day . Unfortunately there appears to be no catch shots which is disappointing however it is understandable considering the rain was persisting it down on everyone at the end of the proceedings .
Anyway here goes :
