2024 - October 26th - Nyköping Bro

Change the clocks tonight so we all get an extra hour in bed ..........will the river fish today , surely it should do after the last two weekends huge catches ........anyway this is how it went .......

Decided to feeder fish today however when setting up my gear there was a large black thing in the water about 50 metres away that disappeared , so i thought , Beaver ? Until it popped up again looking at me and it was Seal.

It continued to surface and submerge over a 100 metre distance over the next hour and in that hour i had no bites . It was only later i caught 5-6 Bleak on dead maggots so that was it for me , the Seal had spooked the fish and how many more Seals were in the area ? They could have been feeding all night as either side of the water was street lamps .

The closest it came to me about 15m away

So i decided to pack all the gear away and go and visit Stefan out on the piren . I first visited the other side .

Looking back towards the bridge  and the opposite side where i was fishing to the right of the boat with two masts

I spoke with Stefan but never visited him as i wanted to visit the Feeder cup match length . He was now saying he only had about 10 roach.

I arrived at the easy section (pegs 8 and 9 approx.)

Both pegs quite clear 

I think about peg 7 ish and quite clear 

 

The swing chair area with Dog walk was quite clear but obviously will need further work early next year but i would say less to do so over a period of years the pegs will be less in repair .

Over to the Elite section on the boards 

Probably the least maintenance peg  , always clear 

2024 - October 19th - Nyköping Bro

Found myself returning back for another session at Nyköping as last weekends 163 fish gave me the taste for more so i set my gear out in the same place.

Starting with feeder for just over 30 minutes i only took 4 Bjorkna . I then changed to full depth T6 pole rigs of 4gr and 6 gr as i wanted to get thro the Bleak that tend to attack the corn. 

It was later that the continuous feed brought the shoals up into the top 3m and i bagged continuously.  

Whips with EXNER 4gr Lucifers 

Mixed a good bucket of SONUBAITS and opened 2 tins of corn

Perfect place for a match ......on this side easily 7 pegs , opposite side also the same

Sea Breeze started to get stronger

Best fish of the day a approx. 1.25 kilos Ide

End of a great day with 217 samples, mostly Bjorkna but this time more Rudd , Roach/Rudd , Skimmer showing. Also had Big Bleak on Corn with several samples of Perch also falling to corn. Included in this i took the largest fish and Ide of about 1.25 kilo with two other smaller versions.

Cleared the gear away ready for the viewing

Quite a weight in this catch and i estimated about 30-35 kilos

I think i will be back for more next weekend  😀😀😀

2024 - October 12th - Nyköping Bro

Having been disappointed that the first REEL ONLY match on Sodertalje canal was cancelled i took the opportunity to fish Nykoping down from the bridge. Knowing rain had been quite heavy in the last week i expected the water to be really passing though.

What was all that scum on the surface ......... i spoke with an angler and he told me not to worry as it was just non-harmful waste from the storm drain emptying near the bridge , i hope so !

The river was slack in front of me to at least 5m out however after an hour the river really flowed stronger as i expect flood relief control upstream were altering a few things . Later in the day the flow stopped and slacks formed.

163 on the counter with 95% being Bjorkna and skimmer . Also took roach , rudd , roach/rudd hybrids . 2 Perch , 15 or so Bleak (on the corn and foul hooked!), and one small ide .......estimated 20-25 kilos (45lb-55lb) 

A lot of quality stamp fish 

I reckon we should have a match here to replace one of the REEL ONLY matches (but make it any method)

2024 - October 6th - Sodertalje canal

Last chance to fish before the 1st METMASK REEL ONLY competition on the 12th October. The day was clear sunny and warm in the sun . I could not have wished for better weather.

End of the day and my feathered friends knew that and were ready to take any left overs from the ground bait bucket

Not too bad a day as i amassed 47 fish . 1 Bream , 1 skimmer , 3 Perch , 1 Bleak and the rest were roach for an approx. weight of 5-6 kilos for 4.5 hours fishing.

then the bad shit again strikes this beautiful section of canal as the scum low-life decorate with their discarded food wrappings and drinks cups .......FINE THE BASTARDS !!
