2024 - September 29th - Sodertalje canal

Return to the canal for another practice with a different end rig , will it work well , we shall see.

A cold morning was the greeting however warmer as the day wore on with the sun making it comfortable.

Water clear as usual but i decided on sitting on the bank and not go into the water.

What a view

Some very sizeable roach showing up

Bites were continuous and corn proved to be the better bait to use

End of the day and about 5 kilos for 4.5 hours fishing - no Bream shown or even Bjorkna so frustrating not to have another species other than Roach and odd Perch.

Sun really low now

End of the day and i gained some much needed fresh air

2024 - September 22nd - Sodertalje canal

Mats trying a few hours practice fishing in readiness for the 'REEL ONLY 'series, fishing Saturday 21st September

All below fishing tackle is available at METMASK

  https://metmask.com/

Next day the 22nd September is my chance to try and sort a few tactics out - the Restaurant Menu looks rather tempting for the expectants

A little feed in a pre-bait at 42 turns out x 4 chucks

Todays instruments of food carrying

First fish of the day at 42 turns ........only fished it for 30 minutes and just 3 fish

Back onto short line and after 2 hours and loads of Roach i took this unexpected visitor that has been missing for several weeks !

Always with me is my Grandson from England who enjoyed catching fish with us and Uncle Mick just a few weeks ago

Mick and Jacob - who caught 6 fish , he was so excited !....(a few weeks ago)

What a view , lunch break and coffee time

My boat going in for a service ....yeah right ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Days return was 62 fish , 1 Bream of size , one skimmer the size of a hand , 2 Perch 2 Bleak and the rest Roach of very good size .

2024 - September 20th - Sodertalje canal

Where have all the Bream gone ?

Yes ! , where have they gone ? Since mid July the Bream have failed to show in significant numbers like previous years , how strange ? However there are plenty of DOG roach showing .

All equipment on show can be purchased at METMASK    https://metmask.com/

SONUBAITS is the 'DOGS'

Small boat going by 😂😂😂😂

Office is ready for the entrants - note how easy this canal match length is to secure your box out in the water - most pegs are like this

2 MATRIX 11-9 Feeders and a 7m PRESTON whip with a 6m whip

The restaurant selection for the fish

Today was a disappointment because of NO Bream however the Roach were all big Dogs

2024 - September 14th and 15th - Sodertalje canal

Another visit to this great venue was organised and firstly Ivan fished the Saturday and i fished the Sunday

Saturday - Ivan's day

Met him towards the end of his session as i delivered some products from the Metmask stable

Ivan had plenty of indications as his tip was constantly moving

A few Perch made an appearance

He managed to snag a lone Bream with a well supported bag of silvers and odd Perch

Sunday - Phils day

I used the same peg as Ivan used on Saturday

What a beautiful stretch of water - i am so lucky to have this on my doorstep

Small boat going by

Hopefully enough on the menu for the fish to bite

Feeder choice

Two MATRIX XF rods/reels with a bait up rod

No Bream for me except a few hand-size samples - approx 7 kilos

2024 - Sodertalje canal - 1st September

Whilst Mick has been over here we have ventured out a lot and today is our 9th since he arrived and no surprise was our usual visit to the Sodertalje canal just 2 minutes from my abode.

Today Ivor has joined us and he wanted to get some practice in for the 'REEL ONLY' series we have planned in October and November.

My place for the session and i had feeder rod and pole set up

Well ! .....strange day really as it was 'Roach a plenty' with the odd pomme and perch . But Mick was the first to secure a Bream, be it a small skimmer of about 300gr. However after about half way through our session we started to connect more with good size skimmers and Bream.
Ivor left us after 4 hours to get home early but he still had a good 6 kilo net of fish but was unlucky not to connect with any Bream .
Myself and Mick carried on and after 5.5 hours we had amassed 13 kilos for Mick and 12 kilos for me as we both secured 11 and 9 Bream respectively with lots of Dog Roach.

Great day really however the canal has not shown its real form this year but still good enough for some decent weights.

Dont forget we have our REEL ONLY series coming up on October 12th and 26th and November 9th. Where the use of Feeder and Slider are the only methods allowed.

Day before at the usual canal spot
