2011 - Understanding the Rive trays and trying to get the right hook lengths sorted

Just trying (failing at the moment) to tie hook lengths the same length onto the RIVE hook length board from the Pieriotti hook tyer

Sitting pretty but need to put line and weights on !

These Rive systems are just the business with their precise fitment with the winders , really well engineered.

2011 Fishing gear test - Hollow pole elastics

Just recently i purchased a fresh supply of Hollow elastics for the season. They came in the form of Preston Innovations and Daiwa. I already have Drennan elastics and there are many more brands on the market. Thought i would give my opinion on these brands as i progress through the season.

Later in the year i shall compile my thoughts on how the elastics have behaved during the season and give a review on Performance,cost,durability.

2011 Fishing gear test - Shot (SMALL)

Many different SMALL shots on the market and many are very good and most anglers choose a shot that they get on with , so its always down to a personal choice.
During the coarse(course) of the season i shall analyse the shot and see what behaves well for me. I personally have a preference for Preston Stotz on the pole line and ZLT for pole as well as waggler.

I shall review : MAVER , SENSAS , COLMIC ,ZLT , PRESTON.

ONCE COMPLETED I SHALL GIVE THE USUAL TEST RESULTS BASED ON COST ,EASE OF ATTACHING , DURABILITY ON THE LINE FOR MOVEMENT.

2011 Fishing gear test - Dacron pole connectors

POLE DACRON CONNECTORS

Over the years the conventional pole elastic connector has phased out and more anglers have adapted to figure-of-8 knots in the elastic and now onto Dacron connectors.

Recently i decided to order 3 different types from the BROWNING ,PRESTON and FOX camps.

I shall assemble the connectors up in the new pole and complete analysis of:
1 - Ease of assembly to elastic.
2 - How easy to assemble the rig loop.
3 - Cost
4 - Durability and strength and length of service.

Check for results into the year.

2011 Daiwa Tournament pole set - just awesome !

Upto 20 years ago i was using Daiwa poles and have used the Tournament S ,410 ,Conniseur and Wisker. But when my co-partner started to sell more Preston Innovations i started to use their Montage of poles .
Recently a well respected match angler on the Swedish circuit (Kent Adell) decided to sell his pole collection and progress to another brand. When the pole came up for sale ...i knew i wanted it !

2 x top 4s
spares 8 , 7 , 6 (some repair sections)
2 length cup kits
3 half butts
3 short 4's
3 other short 4's

Both poles and other sections were in fantastic condition ...........just need to fish now !
