FRESH SWEDISH MAGGOT ARRIVED TODAY

TOOK A DELIVERY FROM MY OWN BUSINESS TODAY......GOT TOMMY TO SEND ME 4 LITRES SO TO LAST ME OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.
VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE PACKING WHICH INCLUDED COOLING BLOCKS.

Our customer list is now extending over the BALTIC plus more sales from the garage chain and Norway plus North and Central Sweden......plans are being made to expand the farm further as our new customers increase to our breeding capacity . Its expected next year we can produce plus 500 litres a week plus handling worm sales of over 40 kilos a week.
As you know we sell small tubs of maggots and worms but we still intend to supply the match-fraternity even more and we are working closely with one of Sweden's leading groundbait + tackle supplier to further more sales , this will be in a form of :....... you buy X amount of groundbait and you get X amount of bait at discount with that order over the season. Also in a position to offer specimen and match fishing clubs with maggot prices you cannot refuse !!!!!

Russ sorting another fresh batch .........by the way Russ is in hospital after a 6 hour operation on his back , hopefully he will be up quite soon running around the farm.

TRECANTEN , LILJEHOLMEN IN STOCKHOLM - NICE LAKE 1

Sunday the 6th september found myself fishing Trecanten a lake in south Stockholm. I met up with Bob Nuddtanenen and a new member to our Bagging club : ' Tim ' , has been living here for some 6 years. The lake contain smany roach ,Crucians,Tench and Carp plus the usual predators.

Tim kitted out with alot of Octoplus on show

Johan sitting on his Tubertini scaffold

Johan and Tim found a few gaps in the trees about 50 metres to my right , i found this peg with just enough room to hold a pole however i have to be careful as many runners were just to back of me and anymore than 3 joints behind me meant they would trip over !

THE TARGET AREA

End of the day and 100 plus roach later ......give myself 7 to 8 kilos of good size roach.

Tim and johan have photos of their fish and i will add later

WHIP FISHING - I MUST GET BETTER - PART 3A

The good weather made an appearance after the previous days blow out. The sun was out but it was still a little breezy.

Menu for the day is Yellow groundbait very fluffy , tub of water for dipping the fingers in to keep them clean and also to wetten the mix a little. Dead red maggot is all i have but would have preferred some old maggot that had been crawling around in sand for a couple of days

Had the 2 x 3m and 1 x 4m whips set up with a 7m whip with a 5gr Texier Milo for some sport later on with the Roach and Bream.

Had 2 kilos of Top Mix Red for the 10m line on the 7 m whip

The killing method to be 7 cm of link line holding a Tubertini 14 hook with maggot thread to the tail of the knot.

Started at 12:20 and had bleak from the off at 3 metres at a depth of 30 cm.......quickly got a pattern going and concentrated on the catching of the fish and using the hand to shake it off , also to try and get several fish on the one maggot. The Bleak came good but now and again small jack pike hit the swim with also Perch. Also to get a good pattern , as soon as i hit a fish and started to swing the fish , i fed every time with a ' pinch' of wetted groundbait. Later got better results as i fed every 3-5 fish. Carried on till about 14:50 and i counted 188 bleak , many of them being small but the odd one going 20-30 gr. Had a call from Bob Nuddanen, then everything changed as i started to get roach all the while and closer in on a 1.7 m whip !!....then Bingo !......i caught more roach, perch ,small ide and bigger bleak then was a  surprise to hit 3 bream averaging a 1.25 kilo each .......and lost 2 others.

weight of Bleak i estimate to be 5 kilos-ish with the roach ,perch and Ide it must have gone 9 kilos-ish plus the bream , i reckon 12 kilos-ish

Big fish ball

Quite a pleasant surprise to catch these on a bleak rig , be it 1.7m long  !!

Dedication of thanks to Lars Boden for technical help with this article , his advice was paramount for a successful day. (CERTAIN TECHNICAL POINTS TO THIS FISHING ARE NOT REVEALED )

A Bleakers hand  - many small holes from the hook
